The Israeli Foreign Ministry announced plans to deport members of the Sumud flotilla
The passengers of the Global Sumuda Flotilla (GSF), who were traveling to the Gaza Strip with humanitarian aid, are returning to Israel, from where they will later be deported. This was announced on October 2 by the country's Foreign Ministry in its Telegram channel.
"The passengers of the Hamas-Sumud flotilla are safely and peacefully heading to Israel on their yachts, where the procedure for their deportation to Europe will begin," the statement said.
The ministry noted that all the activists are healthy and safe. The Israeli Foreign Ministry also accompanied the publication with photographs of the detainees, showing Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg sitting on the floor among life jackets.
On October 1, it was reported that the Israeli military had landed on the flotilla ships. At least nine vessels are currently known to have been intercepted.
