Blogger Lercek pleaded not guilty in court to withdrawing funds abroad
Blogger Valeria Chekalina (Lercek) pleaded not guilty to withdrawing funds abroad and stated that she did not understand the essence of the charges. This was announced on December 1 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the courtroom.
On November 24, the Gagarin Court in Moscow extended the house arrest of Chekalina and her ex-husband for six months. At the same time, Lercek announced that her pregnancy was long-awaited.
Izvestia reported on September 7 that police officers had completed a preliminary investigation into Lerchek and Artyom Chekalin. Prior to that, on August 27, Artyom Chekalin's lawyer, Korney Podvoisky, reported that the investigative actions had already been completed.
The criminal case against Valeria and Artyom was opened in October last year. The ex-husband and wife, as well as their accomplice, were suspected of illegally withdrawing more than 250 million rubles from Russia to Dubai using forged documents (art. 193.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
In May, the tax service issued a new bill to the blogger for more than 28 million rubles. At the hearing on the extension of the preventive measure on May 22, the prosecution indicated that the investigation of the criminal case against Lercek and her ex-husband could not be completed on time.
