The mother of blogger Valeria Chekalina (Lerchek) Elvira Feopentova reported on the difficult financial situation of the family.

She shared that due to the current situation, she was forced to sell her daughter's belongings.

"Valeria's mom is in touch, I won't say much and just say that our family is going through very difficult times right now. It hurts me to look at my daughter's tears. As you can understand, our financial situation is not very good either," she said in a video posted on her daughter's Instagram account (owned by Meta, a company whose activities are recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).

On August 21, the Troitskiy District Court of Moscow extended the house arrest of blogger Lerchek. It is specified that it was extended for one month and seven days — until September 28. Later, on September 7, police officers completed a preliminary investigation into the bloggers. The next day, Valeria Chekalina and her ex-husband Artyom Chekalin were charged.

The criminal case against the Chekalins was opened in October last year. The ex-husband and wife, as well as their accomplice, were suspected of illegally withdrawing more than 250 million rubles from Russia to Dubai using forged documents (art. 193.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

In May, the tax service issued a new bill to the blogger for more than 28 million rubles. At the hearing on the extension of the preventive measure on May 22, the prosecution indicated that the investigation of the criminal case against Lercek and her ex-husband could not be completed on time.
