On February 27, the Russian Interior Ministry released footage of the arrest of the abductor of a nine-year-old girl in Smolensk.

A video in the Telegram channel of the department shows how the abducted Alexandra is taken out of the entrance of an apartment building. This is followed by footage of the arrest and neutralization of the kidnapper.

The girl disappeared on February 24 while walking her dog. Local residents reported on social media that they had noticed a suspicious car in the area, which may have taken the child away.

Later, on February 26, a source from Izvestia reported that the suspect in the abduction of the girl turned out to be 43-year-old Sergei G., who had previously been convicted of drug possession. During interrogation, the man confessed that he had kept the child in his roommate's apartment. It is specified that the stolen woman was found by DNA, a SIM card and a car. According to the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, a criminal case was opened into the incident under Article 126 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Kidnapping").

The press service of the Prosecutor's office of the Smolensk region reported on the same day that a preventive measure would be chosen by the court in the near future.
