Marina Kohal's defense filed an appeal against the verdict, according to which she was sentenced to 12.5 years in prison for the murder of her husband, rapper Andy Cartwright (Alexander Yushko). This became known on December 7.

As it became known from the Smolninsky District Court file on the website, the verdict was challenged after filing a complaint in early December.

The investigation found that in July 2020, Kohal injected her husband with a lethal drug, and after his death, she dismembered Cartwright's body into 15 pieces using a hacksaw and a knife.

Yushko's dismembered body was found at the end of July 2020 in an apartment in St. Petersburg. According to the musician's wife, he died of a drug overdose, and she dismembered the corpse to hide the "inglorious" death of the rapper from fans. At the same time, no traces of prohibited substances were found in the body of the deceased.

The rapper's wife was arrested and taken into custody. However, in October 2021, she was released under house arrest. In April 2022, the prosecutor's office of the Central District of St. Petersburg approved Kohal's indictment and referred the case to the court.

The rapper's mother-in-law, Elena Kohal, was also involved in the case, but her prosecution was terminated due to the lack of corpus delicti in her actions. In January 2023, Elena Kohal sued more than 500 thousand rubles from the investigation for an unsubstantiated case.

Marina Kohal was sentenced to 12.5 years in prison on November 21. She did not admit her guilt. Earlier, the state prosecution had requested 13 years in prison for her.
