- The court upheld the verdict of Eldukaev in the case of attempted murder of businessmen.
The Second Western District Military Court upheld the verdict of Tarkhan Eldukayev in the case of the attempted murder of businessman brothers Tahir and Telman Gurshumov. On November 19, Andrei Alyoshkin, the lawyer of singer Abraham Russo, told Izvestia.
On August 22, Eldukaev was found guilty of the attempted murder of the Gurshumovs in the 1990s, but he was acquitted in the case of the attempted murder of singer Avraham Russo. Eldukayev was sentenced to 14.5 years in a general regime penal colony.
Eldukayev was detained and arrested in October 2023. According to the investigation, after a conflict between businessman Tahir Gurshumov and the ex-owner of Cherkizovsky market, Telman Ismailov hired killers in order to eliminate his opponent. On December 23, 1996, an unknown gunman shot the Gurshumov brothers several times in the entrance of a house on Shcherbakovskaya Street in Moscow. One of them died, the other was seriously injured.
The attempt on Russo's life took place on the night of August 19, 2006, near his house on Plushykha Street. Russo suffered injuries to his left hip. The actor was hospitalized. He has been treating injuries after an assassination attempt for many years. He has already undergone several surgeries, but old injuries periodically remind him of themselves. During an examination in March 2023, it turned out that the artist underwent a vein bypass surgery a year ago to restore blood circulation.
In November 2022, a jury found guilty the defendants in the case of the attempted assassination of Russo, Vitaly Jura, Alexei Tryasnikov and Mikhail Demkin. They were charged under articles "Attempted murder", "Illegal acquisition, transfer, sale, storage, transportation, transfer or carrying of weapons" and "Complicity in attempted murder".
On October 28, 2024, it became known that the criminal prosecution of Vladimir Shestopalov, a person involved in the abduction of singer Abraham Russo in 2004, had been terminated. It was noted that the court had made such a decision due to the expiration of the statute of limitations. The Basmanny Court of Moscow arrested Shestopalov in the case of the abduction of Russo in early September 2024. Prior to his arrest, the defendant had been on the federal wanted list for several years. During the confrontation, the singer identified Shestopalov.
