The rescuer revealed the condition for the survival of the Usoltsev family missing in the taiga

The Usoltsev family, who disappeared in the forests of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, could have survived if they had found shelter or a winter quarters with food supplies. This was announced on October 13 by the chairman of the Executive Committee of the Union of Rescuers, Honored Rescuer of Russia Sergey Shchetinin.

"Maybe ten percent remains on the fact that they are alive. Perhaps they went somewhere where they were not searched for, found shelter, a winter quarters with a supply of food. Only this can save them," he said in an interview with the "Paragraph".

Nevertheless, Shchetinin stressed that the chances of saving the family remain "catastrophically" low due to adverse weather conditions - low temperatures and snowfall.

Why did the massive rescue operation in the Krasnoyarsk Territory stop?

On September 28, the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation for the Krasnoyarsk Territory reported the disappearance of the Usoltsev family in a wooded area near the Minsk Loop, consisting of a man and a woman born in 1961 and 1977, respectively, as well as their five-year-old child. According to one version, the man could become ill, and the woman and child could not get out of the taiga on their own.

On October 8, the press service of the main directorate (GU) of the Russian Emergencies Ministry for the region said that more than 515 km of forest roads and 40 square kilometers of woodlands had been combed by volunteers in search of missing tourists. The next day, it became known that the radio signal of the phone of the head of the missing Usoltsev family was recorded 7 km from the village of Kuturchin in the Partizansky district, after which it was decided to concentrate search operations there.

On October 12, it was reported that the active phase of the search for the missing family had been completed, but work would continue in the format of point tasks to be performed by certified rescuers and professionals.
