The court placed Dmitry Shubin under house arrest, who is accused of mediating bribery during the construction of fortifications in the Kursk border region. This was announced on August 16 by the press service of the Moscow courts of general jurisdiction.

"The petition of the preliminary investigation authorities to choose a preventive measure in the form of house arrest against Dmitry Viktorovich Shubin, accused of committing a crime under Part 4 of Article 291.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ["Mediation in large—scale bribery]", for a period of two months, has been granted," follows from a publication on the Telegram channel.

The press service notes that Shubin cooperated with the investigation and admitted his guilt in the illegal acts committed.

Earlier, on April 16, Alexey Smirnov, ex-governor of the Kursk region, was detained. According to Irina Volk, the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, law enforcement officers charged Smirnov and his deputy Alexei Dedov with embezzlement of more than 1 billion rubles. It was clarified that they were allocated by JSC Kursk Region Development Corporation for the construction of fortifications on the border with Ukraine.

The Meshchansky District Court of Moscow has arrested the former head of the Kursk region for two months. Later, on June 6, his detention was extended until September 15.
