The court upheld the verdict of the ex-head of Sakhalin Khoroshavin.

The Khabarovsk Regional Court upheld the decision of the district court to commute the sentence of the former governor of the Sakhalin Region, Alexander Khoroshavin. This was reported in the joint press service of the courts of the Khabarovsk Territory.

"The Khabarovsk Regional Court upheld the decision <...> to refuse to replace the unserved part of the punishment with a more lenient type of punishment for the former governor of the Sakhalin Region," the press service said in a statement posted on the Telegram channel.

Khoroshavin was convicted of systematically accepting bribes on an especially large scale from persons interested in receiving funds or other property of the Sakhalin Region for economic activities, or in making decisions in their favor and providing patronage in the region.

It is also noted that the former governor acted as part of an organized group.

In April 2022, Khoroshavin was sentenced to 15 years in a corrupt criminal case. He was accused of committing crimes under Part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code ("Receiving bribes"), Part 1 of Article 30, Part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code ("Preparation for receiving bribes"). The materials of the second criminal case were submitted from the investigation to the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk city court in April 2020, the first meeting was held on September 7 of the same year.

Another person involved in the criminal case was Alexey Leskin, the former vice-mayor of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. He was charged with 13 counts of accepting bribes, after which he was sentenced to nine years in prison.
