Lavrov pointed to the preservation by the US administration of the understandings reached in Alaska

The understanding reached in Anchorage remains with the administration of US President Donald Trump, Russia can confirm this. This was announced on March 3 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei, answering a question from Izvestia.

"The atmosphere always helps, but understandings were reached in Anchorage. This is not something ephemeral, these are absolutely concrete things. And, as I have said more than once, it is precisely with these understandings that the Trump administration is trying to bring down their European allies, and, of course, the Nazi regime of [Ukrainian leader Vladimir] Zelensky. But as far as we can tell, the Trump administration is not moving away from these understandings, from the problem of [Ukraine's] non-entry into NATO and from the need to recognize the realities that have developed on earth as a result of people's will," he said during the conference.

According to Lavrov, recognizing the realities on the ground in the Ukrainian conflict is "not about territories," but about the opinion of residents on these lands. He clarified that European countries continue to impose the position that the core of the settlement is supposedly a guarantee of Ukraine's security, but at the same time they mean guarantees of security to the regime that currently rules in Kiev, as well as to the regime that European countries want to preserve by all means in those territories that will remain from the former Ukrainian state.

Zelensky said on March 2 that the meeting of the delegations of Ukraine, the United States and Russia in Abu Dhabi scheduled for March 5-8 has not yet been canceled, although an exact decision has not yet been made due to the global situation. If a meeting is not possible, alternative locations may be used — Turkey or Switzerland. Zelensky also stressed that his position on territorial integrity and sovereignty remains unchanged.

The Axios portal reported on February 25 that the Ukrainian leader, during a telephone conversation with Trump, noted that he hoped for a settlement of the Ukrainian conflict by the end of the year.
