Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev the issue of the detention of Russian IT specialists in Baku. This was announced on October 29 by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

"We highly appreciate the results of the bilateral meeting that took place between the two presidents in Dushanbe. It was a very important meeting in terms of us turning over the very page in our bilateral relations together," Peskov said during a briefing.

Answering a question about the extension of the arrest of Russian citizens in Azerbaijan, Dmitry Peskov confirmed the continuation of the bilateral dialogue on this issue. The presidential press secretary noted that systematic work is underway at various levels to address this situation.

On October 9, Putin met with the Azerbaijani leader in Tajikistan. This meeting between the presidents of Russia and Azerbaijan was the first in a long time. Putin and Aliev met briefly in September in China at the SCO summit, but did not communicate fully. The next day, on October 10, Putin stated that there had been no crisis in interstate relations between Russia and Azerbaijan.
