Belarusian citizen disappeared in Myanmar
A Belarusian citizen has disappeared in Myanmar. This was reported on October 15 by the BelTA news agency with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic.
According to the Foreign Ministry, communication with the woman was interrupted on October 4, as previously reported by her mother.
It was established that the applicant had flown to Yangon from Bangkok on 20 September. The Belarusian Embassy in Vietnam organized search activities with the assistance of law enforcement and diplomatic structures of the two countries. The offices of the honorary consulates of Belarus in Yangon and Bangkok are also involved in the operation.
On September 26, it was reported that a Russian citizen had been taken out of Thailand, presumably for forced labor in fraudulent call centers. It is clarified that the Russian woman was attracted by an offer to work as a model in Thailand, received through an anonymous Telegram channel, and this is what prompted her to travel.
October 1, Vice-President of the Unified Coordination Center for the Support of Compatriots Abroad Ivan Melnikov informed Izvestia that the abducted Russian woman had been rescued. According to him, it was possible to find the tourist after the topic was publicized in the media and thanks to the assistance of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
