The operator of the Adriatic Pipeline (JANAF) in Croatia has suspended cooperation with the Oil Industry of Serbia (NIS) due to US sanctions. This was announced on October 9 on the official JANAF website.

"NIS <...> has not received the license necessary to continue the implementation of the contract for the transportation of crude oil," the company said.

In this regard, starting from October 8, 2025, the fulfillment of the contract became impossible.

It is specified that JANAF was ready for this. In addition, despite this, the company's activities are not in danger.

Earlier, on October 8, it was reported that JANAF, which supplies fuel to the Russian-Serbian company NIS, received a reprieve from US sanctions until October 15. At the same time, JANAF has not received an official document stating that NIS has been granted a license for the above period.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced on September 25 that US sanctions against the Russian-Serbian NIS would come into force on October 1. Back in early January, he also noted that in case of restrictions from the American side, the state would be ready to buy out the Russian stake in NIS. According to him, if the company's value is €1 billion, then the share can be bought out for about €600 million.
