The Russian woman, who was fraudulently taken from Thailand to Myanmar, was released
A Russian citizen illegally detained in Myanmar after being tricked out of Thailand has been released and handed over to Russian diplomats. This was announced on October 7 in the Telegram channel of the Russian Embassy in Bangkok.
"According to available information, a transnational criminal network operates in a number of countries in the region, which recruits foreign citizens, including Russian citizens, under the pretext of employment in Thailand," the diplomatic mission said.
It is specified that the release took place on October 7 due to the coordinated actions of the law enforcement agencies of Thailand and Myanmar, as well as employees of the Russian Embassy and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia. The woman was transferred to the Thai side, from where she was taken to Bangkok for further flight to Russia.
The removal of a Russian citizen from Thailand, presumably for forced labor in fraudulent call centers, was reported on September 26. It is clarified that the Russian woman was attracted by an offer to work as a model in Thailand, received through an anonymous Telegram channel, and this is what prompted her to travel.
October 1, Vice-President of the Unified Coordination Center for the Support of Compatriots Abroad Ivan Melnikov informed Izvestia that the abducted Russian woman had been rescued. According to him, it was possible to find the tourist after the topic was publicized in the media and thanks to the assistance of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
