A case was opened against the creator of Masyanya for violating the duties of a foreign agent.

Oleg Kuvaev, the creator of the animated series Masyanya (recognized as a foreign agent in the Russian Federation), was prosecuted under Part 2 of Article 330.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Evading the duties of a foreign agent"). This was announced on September 23 by a source of Izvestia.

As reported, office work began on September 18. According to investigators, Kuvaev, despite two administrative charges for violating the law on foreign agents, continued his activities. In the period from February 9 to September 18, 2025, he deliberately failed to provide the necessary information to the authorities.

The animator lives outside of Russia.

On December 22, the Ministry of Justice added Kuvaev to the register of foreign agents. As specified, the animator opposed the special operation in Ukraine and took part in fundraising events in support of the Ukrainian army. He also disseminated false information aimed at creating a negative image of Russia and the country's Armed Forces. Later, on December 26, the creator of Masyanya was put on the criminal wanted list.
