On February 22, believers celebrate the first Parents' Saturday in 2025. It has the status of Ecumenical Saturday, when it is customary to commemorate all the deceased, and falls on the eve of Shrovetide and Lent.

Another name - Meat-Lent - describes the life activity of believers until Easter. It is believed that since this date and up to the Feast of the Holy Day, church-going people do not eat meat and meat products.

On Parents' Saturday lay people go to the liturgy. It is believed that on this day the living can spiritually reunite with loved ones who have passed away.

In churches people pray, read "Our Father", put candles for the repose of the souls of deceased relatives. Lenten food is consecrated, which is then put on the memorial table at home. The main dish should be kutya, in addition - vegetables, porridge, dairy products and fish are allowed.

It is customary to visit cemeteries and put them in order after winter, if weather conditions allow. If the snow has not yet melted, it is allowed to postpone the visit to the graveyard until the thaw.

Our ancestors believed that on this day you can not quarrel, have fun. It is forbidden to drink alcohol.
