- The political scientist pointed to the strength of relations between the peoples of Russia and Serbia
The EU has been putting pressure on Serbia for a long time. Brussels is seeking to sever economic and political ties between Moscow and Belgrade, creating a rift between countries that historically consider themselves fraternal. However, Russia is taking measures to offset this pressure. This was stated to Izvestia on February 26 by political scientist and publicist Georgy Dibrov.
According to him, the termination of Serbia's long-term gas contract with Russia may lead to an economic crisis in Belgrade, which, according to the expert, is beneficial for Brussels to implement the usual steps to weaken statehood.
"Through the energy crisis, the European bureaucrats want to repeat the Ukrainian scenario in Serbia. But many Serbian residents remember the terrible NATO bombing of peaceful cities in their country. The alliance's crimes have no statute of limitations and must be condemned and prosecuted in accordance with international law," the expert said.
In his opinion, relations between the Serbian and Russian peoples remain strong, despite political pressure. Dibrov also draws attention to the fact that residents of EU countries, who often have limited rights to choose, understand that the actions of the European bureaucracy harm free sovereign states, and the majority of the population will resist the narratives imposed by Brussels.
The expert warns that if the European Union does not advance the energy issue now, it will use other instruments of pressure: transit and transportation of goods, freezing of financial flows or migration restrictions.
"An artificial economic crisis is being created. The EU aims to divide Serbia into two camps and push them against each other, and then dictate its own rules," the political scientist explained.
As the EU's position in the Ukrainian bloc deteriorates, according to Dibrov, Brussels will increase pressure on countries friendly or fraternal to Russia. In the coming years, supporters of transatlanticism will increase pressure in regions where national interests do not coincide with "globalist" demands.
On the same day, the Russian Embassy in Belgrade informed Izvestia that the EU was forcing Serbia to abandon purchases of Russian gas in favor of European supplies. In fact, Brussels is trying to switch this Balkan country to European-controlled energy channels, blackmail freedom-loving and independent Serbs with this, and create problems for their economy, which is growing faster than others in the European part.
All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
