The farewell to Honored Artist of Russia Igor Zolotovitsky will take place on Saturday, January 17, on the main stage of the Chekhov Moscow Art Theater. This was reported on January 14 in the theater's Telegram channel.
"At 10:00, a civil memorial service will begin on the main stage of the Chekhov Moscow Art Theater (Kamergersky Lane, 3). At 13:00, a funeral service will be held at the Church of Sophia the Wisdom of God in Sredny Sadovniki (Sofiyskaya Embankment, 32, p. 13)," the message says.
On the same day, the artist will be buried at the Troekurovsky Cemetery in Moscow.
Zolotovitsky died at the age of 65. The cause of the artist's death was cancer. People's Artist of Russia, director Andrey Zhitinkin, in an interview with Izvestia, called Zolotovitsky a witty and cheerful person. According to the director, Zolotovitsky could make any actor work, which made him a good teacher.
The artist was born on June 18, 1961 in Tashkent. He graduated from the Moscow Art Theater Studio School in 1983 and joined the theater troupe the same year. After the division of the team, he continued to work at the Moscow Art Theater under the direction of Oleg Yefremov, now the Chekhov Moscow Art Theater, where he performed dozens of roles and was involved in landmark productions of the repertoire.
In 2002, Zolotovitsky was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, and in 2020 he received the title of Honored Artist of the Russian Federation.
