- The media reported on the decree of the US court to declassify some of the materials in the Epstein case.
A federal judge in Florida has ordered the release of grand jury documents related to the investigations of financier Jeffrey Epstein in 2005 and 2007 on charges of trafficking minors. This was reported on December 5 by The Independent newspaper.
"District Judge Rodney Smith ordered the disclosure of the materials of the grand jury investigations for 2005 and 2007," the material says.
It is clarified that the judge initially refused to satisfy the request, but on Friday he changed his decision. This happened after Congress passed, and the head of the White House, Donald Trump, approved a law ordering the Department of Justice to make public all available investigative materials.
According to information from the newspaper, Smith, appointed by Trump, does not have a set deadline to fulfill this requirement. By order of Congress, the Department of Justice is required to publish these materials (with the exception of documents submitted to the grand jury in the cases of Epstein and his accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell) by December 19.
In January 2024, the first part of the documents was published, containing the names of more than 150 people involved in the financier's case. Among them are former US President Bill Clinton, British Prince Andrew, as well as Microsoft founder Bill Gates.
On November 19, Trump signed a bill to make public the files in the case of Epstein, accused of trafficking minors and sexual exploitation. The head of the White House said that this decision would reveal the truth about some high-ranking representatives of the US Democratic Party, with whom, according to him, the infamous financier was closely associated.
The New York Post (NYP) reported on December 3 that Democrats from the Oversight Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives published photos and videos from Epstein's private island. The published materials feature images of the premises of Epstein's luxurious residence, including rooms resembling dental offices, as well as bedrooms and showers decorated with masks of historical figures.
