Dog handler Nikolai Kozlov expressed the opinion that a Welsh corgi named Lada, which the Usoltsev family took on a camping trip, could become both their little savior and a fatal factor that finally confused them in the taiga.

In conversation with aif.ru On Wednesday, November 19, an expert noted that Lada's natural orienteering abilities are many times superior to human ones. According to the dog handler, dogs are able to sense a human's trail much better than humans — their sense of smell is ten times stronger, so in an ideal situation, a corgi could confidently lead the Usoltsev family out of the taiga. However, according to the expert, such a scenario often collapses due to misunderstanding: the dog picks up the trail, and the confused person does not recognize its behavior and leads it in the other direction. This is how a pet, having been thrown off the scent several times, stops leading and just walks next to it.

There is another option — stress and hunger could make Lada move too far away from the owners. Kozlov notes that in the forest, a dog often follows its instincts, exploring the smells of food and animals. If a pet is not sufficiently trained and unmanageable, it can get lost not through the fault of people, but under the influence of its own natural reactions.

Earlier in the day, journalists aif.ru It was reported that Sergei Usoltsev, who disappeared with his family in the Krasnoyarsk taiga at the end of September, had a permit for weapons. In the 1990s, he issued a permit for a 9 mm Iceberg-205 gas revolver. It is noted that in those years such weapons were considered affordable and quite effective means of self-defense, writes RT. In the early 2000s, Usoltsev also had this pistol, as it turned out after an investigation into the theft of his car. However, no weapons were found in the family's car left on the side of the road, IA Regnum reports.

On November 18, the organization "Rescuer" reported that a group of rescuers in search of the missing Usoltsev family explored the caves of a cave 15 m deep in the Partizansky district of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, writes "Moscow 24". No traces of the missing in the cave were found, notes 360.ru .

On November 12, expert Alexander Aulov explained why the search for the family has so far failed. He said that the remains could have been hidden by snow, wild animals could have destroyed them, or people themselves went outside the search area, the website notes. kp.ru .

On the same day, it became known that during the inspection of Sergei Usoltsev's car, they found a cache of money. 600 thousand rubles were found in a cache under the steering panel of the car. Sergey Usoltsev, the head of the family, was engaged in entrepreneurship and led the production of powder paint, NSN notes.

The Usoltsev family — spouses and a five—year-old daughter - disappeared on September 28 during a hike in the Minsk Loop area. Their car was later found in the village of Kuturchin. Eyewitnesses saw a family with large backpacks setting off on a route, but they no longer contacted their relatives. Over 515 km of forest roads and 40 square kilometers of woodlands were explored in search of the missing tourists.
