Yanina, the wife of former Sochi mayor Alexei Kopaigorodsky, has declared an indefinite hunger strike in a pre-trial detention center. Her lawyers informed Izvestia about this on November 14.

It is noted that Yanina made this decision after the court refused to satisfy the request for the opportunity to see the children without restrictive conditions. According to the defense, Kopaygorodskaya was allowed to meet with the children twice since her detention in the spring of 2025. The meetings were held under strict control using transparent partitions, and the duration of communication, according to human rights activists, did not exceed an hour.

Yanina had previously demanded several times that three young children born in 2021, 2022 and 2023 be placed with her and that the SIZO be required to allow them to live together until the age of four. All applications were rejected.

Kopaygorodsky was detained on September 25 in the special operation area, where he had gone some time ago as a volunteer. On the same day, he was arrested until November 18. The ex-mayor is charged with embezzlement of 3.7 million rubles, he pleaded not guilty to the charges. The ex-mayor is also being investigated for involvement in other crimes. If confirmed, new charges will be brought against him.

In early October, the property of Kopaigorodsky's relatives was seized by the court. It was later reported that his wife, lawyer, teacher and doctor were also involved in his case. On October 15, the Moscow City Court recognized the arrest of the former mayor of Sochi as lawful.

On October 29, the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation filed a lawsuit to confiscate the property of the ex-mayor, his relatives, as well as individuals and organizations associated with them. The list included five Mercedes cars, luxury real estate in the immediate vicinity of the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, as well as a total of 77 properties. In addition, during searches in the apartments of the Kopaygorodsky family, law enforcement officers seized 62.25 million rubles, $ 40 thousand and more than € 2 thousand.
