The defense of Dmitry Lukin, the former coach of the Orbita football club, did not appeal the verdict in the case of organizing the murder of Viktor Dorkin, the mayor of the Moscow suburb of Dzerzhinsky, in 2006. Lawyer Yulia Potapova informed Izvestia about this on November 13.

The lawyer did not specify the reasons for this decision.

Lukin was detained at Vnukovo Airport on May 10, 2016, 10 years after the murder. All this time, he was on the federal and international wanted list on suspicion of organizing a crime.

Earlier, on October 17, the court found Lukin guilty and sentenced him to 10.5 years in prison to serve his sentence in a high-security colony.

Dorkin was killed late in the evening on March 30, 2006, when he was returning home from a live broadcast on local television. A year later, the Moscow Region Prosecutor's Office completed the investigation. As a result, the perpetrators of the crime, Sergei Bulavin, Igor Zolotenkov and Igor Stolyak, were convicted. Then Lukin managed to escape.
