Hamas and Israel exchanged lists of prisoners and hostages
The Palestinian movement Hamas and Israel exchanged lists of prisoners for transfer to each other. This was announced on October 8 by the secretary of the Political Bureau of the movement, Taher al-Nuno.
"Today, lists of prisoners to be released were exchanged in accordance with agreed criteria and numbers," Hamas said in a Telegram message.
The Movement also stressed that indirect negotiations are currently underway with the participation of all parties and intermediaries. Thus, special attention was paid to the mechanisms for ending the war, the withdrawal of the occupying forces from the Gaza Strip and the exchange of prisoners. According to Al-Nounou, the mediators are making significant efforts to remove all obstacles to reaching an agreement. The negotiations are taking place in an atmosphere of optimism.
On October 7, US President Donald Trump said that the next 48 hours of negotiations in Egypt between Hamas and Israel would be crucial. On the same day, Al Jazeera TV channel, citing a source, reported that during the second day of negotiations on the settlement of the conflict in Gaza in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, the Hamas delegation demanded that the release of hostages be linked to the withdrawal of Israeli troops from the Gaza Strip. In addition, Hamas demanded international guarantees for the final end of the conflict and the complete withdrawal of the Israeli Army (IDF) from Gaza.
