Moldovan authorities intimidate citizens and try to deprive them of the right to vote, especially the residents of Gagauzia feel the pressure. Vladimir Buyukly, a relative of the head of the Gagauz Autonomy Yevgenia Gutsul, who came to Moscow from St. Petersburg for the parliamentary elections in the republic, told Izvestia on September 28.

"We have come to stop this lawlessness. <… > We drove all night to cast our vote. And every citizen should have the right to come and vote against this lawlessness, what is happening. This day is very important for us," he said.

According to the voter, in Russia, where more than 350,000 Moldovans live, only two polling stations have been opened, while in Italy — 75, despite the smaller number of citizens of the diaspora. Buyukli stressed that such actions are aimed at reducing the participation of Moldovans from the Russian Federation in the vote, as well as ensuring the support of pro-European forces.

"We are united, and we want Moldova to have the same unity. Because today's government and politics are not following this path. They want to destroy Moldova. Therefore, every vote of every person, every citizen of Moldova is very important today," concluded Buyukli.

As journalist Vasily Moiseenko told Izvestia, the Central Election Commission (CEC) opened only 12 polling stations for residents of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic (PMR), and a few days before the elections, four of them were moved to remote settlements. At the same time, about 275 thousand citizens with Moldovan passports live in the region.

Parliamentary elections began in Moldova on September 28. Polling stations in the country opened at 07:00 a.m. and will close at 21:00. Thus, 301 polling stations will operate outside the country in order to give citizens abroad the opportunity to vote. The total circulation of the ballots was 864.3 thousand copies. According to current data, the turnout in the parliamentary elections exceeded 14%.
