Several deaths due to methyl alcohol poisoning were found in another area of the Leningrad region — in the Kingisepp district. This was announced on September 27 by the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia Irina Volk.

"The results of examinations from medical institutions were requested on the deaths of several local residents who died between September 10 and 17 in two neighboring districts — Kingisepp and Volosovsky," she wrote on the Telegram channel.

According to Volk, the cause of death of local residents was the deadly content of methyl alcohol in the blood.

Earlier that day, it was reported that eight people were detained in the Leningrad region in connection with the sale of surrogate alcohol. They added that during the investigation, searches were conducted, as a result of which more than 1 thousand liters of surrogate alcohol were seized.

The day before, it became known about mass alcohol poisoning in the Slantsevsky district of the Leningrad region. In total, 19 people have become victims of the surrogate this month. 78-year-old Nikolai Boytsov and 60-year-old Olga Stepanova were detained on the fact of mass poisoning. Later, three more defendants were charged with manufacturing and marketing alcohol-containing products.
