Anton, the son of Olga Stepanova, a suspect in the case of the sale of a surrogate in the Leningrad region, does not consider his mother involved in the mass poisoning. He told Izvestia about this on September 26.

According to Anton, the names of the people really involved in the case were not mentioned. His mother could have been targeted precisely because of her unwillingness to reveal the real culprits, he believes.

"We found an old moonshine distiller, as I understand it, lying in the attic, which has not been used for a long time. This device belonged to my deceased grandmother. <...> At the moment it was not used, it was left just as a relic," Anton said.

According to him, the found moonshine distiller has been out of order for a long time.

Mass alcohol poisoning in the Slantsevsky district in the Leningrad region became known earlier in the day. It was later reported that in total, 19 people became victims of the surrogate in September.

78-year-old Nikolai Boytsov and 60-year-old Olga Stepanova were detained while investigating the mass poisoning. During a search of Boytsov's apartment, empty glass bottles and plastic cans with a volume of up to 10 liters with a characteristic odor of alcohol-containing liquid were found. A criminal case was opened under Part 3 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Causing death by negligence").
