The Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation is ready to start a dialogue on the resumption of flights with the United States, if the American side is interested in this. This was announced to journalists on September 5 by the Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Andrey Nikitin on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum - 2025 (WEF-2025).

"We are ready to start talking about this topic if the American side is interested.<...> As our president [Russian President Vladimir Putin] says, we do not close ourselves off from anything and are always ready for dialogue," the minister said.

However, he noted that the resumption of flights has not yet been discussed.

Earlier, on April 4, Kirill Dmitriev, special representative of the President of the Russian Federation for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries, said that work was underway between Russia and the United States to resume direct air flights between the two countries. In addition, he noted that other issues related to cultural, tourist, and religious interstate exchanges are also being discussed.

The Politico newspaper, citing a representative of the European Commission (EC), reported on April 19 that the European Union (EU) opposes the resumption of flights between Russia and the United States.
