The UAZ Patriot diesel SUV will be presented before the end of the year.
In the year of its 20th anniversary, UAZ Patriot will undergo modernization, updating not only the appearance, but also the range of power units. By the end of 2025, the SUV will receive a two-liter diesel engine. Alexey Spirin, CEO of UAZ, told about this in an interview with Vesti Ulyanovsk on August 22.
"In April of this year, we integrated a two—liter diesel engine with a new six-speed gearbox into the UAZ Profi, and by the end of this year we plan to introduce them on the assembly line for the UAZ Patriot," Spirin said, according to the corporate Telegram channel UAZ Segodnya.
The assembly of such engines is localized in the Trans-Volga region at the ZAZ plant. In the Ulyanovsk range, a 136 hp (320 Nm) diesel engine will complement the 150 hp ZMZ Pro gasoline engine, which is currently being installed on the Patriot and Profi.
In addition, it is specified that in September the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant will begin production of Sollers ST9 pickups. This is a localized version of the Chinese JAC T9 pickup truck. A new SUV is also being developed based on the Sollers ST9/JAC T9. Its launch in 2026 will be carried out according to the full production cycle, including stamping of body elements at the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant.
The day before, it was reported that the UAZ machine assembly plant had launched new equipment in the Spicer crankcase processing line. The equipment should ensure high precision in the production of crankcases, which will improve the quality of parts for subsequent machining.
