A criminal case was opened against the vice-rector of a university in Vladivostok.
A criminal case was opened in Vladivostok on abuse of office against the vice-rector of one of the universities. This was announced on July 22 by the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia (SU TFR) in the Primorsky Territory in its Telegram channel.
"A criminal case has been opened against the vice–rector for administrative and economic affairs of the University of Vladivostok, who is suspected of abuse of office when accepting actually unfinished work," the report said.
According to the department, the university suffered material damage of more than 3.3 million rubles.
The defendant was charged under clause "e" of Part 3 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Abuse of official authority out of selfish or other personal interest").
Earlier, on April 8, Natalia Ilyina, rector of Pskov State University (PskovGU), was detained and sentenced to two months in prison. A criminal case has been opened against the rector under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Fraud committed on an especially large scale"). According to the investigation, she employed a non-existent employee at the university, through whose salary she cashed out 10 million rubles. In addition, for several years, the rector appropriated salary increases and bonuses accrued to university staff.
On April 10, 11 branded bags, jewelry, four expensive fur coats, as well as documents for a car for 9 million rubles were found during searches of Ilyina's house. In addition, Ilyina and her husband own real estate in Moscow.
