The study revealed the regions of Russia with the highest quality roads
Moscow and the Chelyabinsk Region became the leaders of the rating of Russian regions in terms of road quality, while the Arkhangelsk and Volgograd regions were at the end of the list. This was confirmed on August 3 by a RIA Novosti study.
According to experts, 55.2% of regional and local roads in the country as a whole met regulatory requirements by the end of 2025, which is 0.4 percentage points more than a year earlier. At the same time, the share of such roads in 43 regions of the Russian Federation is lower than the national average.
One hundred percent of the figure was recorded in Moscow, where all regional and local roads meet the standards. The top five also included the Chelyabinsk Region (84.6%), the Republic of Ingushetia (83.3%), Sevastopol (82.5%) and the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug (81.7%).
The worst situation is in the Arkhangelsk region, where only 17.2% of public roads meet the standards. At the same time, regional routes in the region meet the standards by 34%, while local routes meet the standards by only 7%. Experts note that there is a positive trend in the region — the indicator has been growing in recent years.
The Volgograd and Kirov regions were also in the final five of the rating, where the share of roads meeting the standards is less than 30%.
On July 10, Izvestia received a bill from the Liberal Democratic Party, which proposes to amend the Code of Administrative Offences of the Russian Federation, including the abolition of fines for self-repair of roads by citizens if the work is aimed at eliminating defects in the road surface and has not worsened the condition of the road or created obstacles to traffic. According to the law, such an initiative is regarded as "damage to roads", as a result of which people receive fines instead of gratitude.
