A criminal case on bribery was initiated against the former mayor of Kaspiysk.

Investigators have opened a criminal case against the former head of the city of Kaspiysk, suspected of receiving bribes in the form of five apartments with a total value of more than 18 million rubles. This was reported on July 21 in the press service of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Republic of Dagestan.

"The investigative authorities of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Republic of Dagestan have opened a criminal case against the former head of the city of Kaspiysk. He is suspected of committing a crime under Part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Receiving a particularly large bribe")," the Telegram channel said.

According to the investigation, from April to May 2023, the suspect, together with the head of the municipal control department of the city administration, received a bribe in the form of five apartments from the director of a commercial organization. The reward was intended for the issuance of a permit for the commissioning of an apartment building built with violations. To conceal the fact of the bribe, the apartments were registered to trusted persons.

To hide assets, former Deputy Minister Alexei Semenov issued apartments, cars and even a yacht for relatives.

The head of Ufa, Ratmir Mavliev, was detained on April 28 for abuse of office and receiving a particularly large bribe. Two days later, a correspondent from Izvestia, who visited the courtroom where the Mavliev case was being considered, said that the mayor had been taken into custody. At that time, the court sentenced the defendant to stay in jail until July 11, 2026. Later, the court released the Ufa mayor under house arrest.
