The words of the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, that Japan did not officially recognize the results of World War II, became a serious diplomatic signal for East Asia. This was reported by the Chinese agency Sohu.

"Her statement silenced the entire East Asian region for a moment. These words were not just an emotional remark, but a serious diplomatic signal concerning not only relations between Moscow and Tokyo, but also the entire security system in Asia, especially China," the article says.

As the agency noted, Russia is not criticizing Japan's individual steps, but the country's overall political course. The publication also says that Beijing is attentive to issues of historical memory and strengthening Japan's military potential.

According to Sohu, States that have drawn conclusions from the events of World War II should take a responsible approach to issues of historical heritage and security.

Zakharova said at a briefing in Izhevsk on April 24 that Moscow was calling on Tokyo to abandon its policy of accelerated remilitarization. The diplomat added that Russia is monitoring the liberalization of exports of weapons and military products in Japan.
