Putin signed the law on ratification of the military agreement between Russia and Nicaragua

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law on the ratification of the intergovernmental agreement between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Nicaragua on military cooperation. This was announced on May 2 in a document published on the official Internet portal of legal information.

"To ratify the Agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Republic of Nicaragua on military cooperation," the text of the document says.

In addition, the Head of state ratified the agreement on the foundations of relations between the Russian Federation and the Togolese Republic, signed in Moscow on November 19, 2025.

On April 22, deputies of the State Duma adopted a law on ratification of the intergovernmental agreement between Russia and Nicaragua on military cooperation. The Russian Ministry of Defense and the General Command of the Nicaraguan Army are authorized to implement the agreement. As pointed out by State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, Russia needs to strengthen cooperation with friendly countries in Latin America.
