The Moskvich automobile plant has decided not to launch mass production of the compact crossover with the index 5, which was introduced in April last year. This was reported to Izvestia on March 11 by the company's press service.

"According to the results of internal tests in the corporate park, it was revealed that the Moskvich 5 model does not fully meet the criteria for consumer properties adopted by the Moskvich technocluster," the company said.

The plant plans to focus on the production of the Moskvich 3, Moskvich 3e, Moskvich 6, Moskvich 8 models, as well as the new M line. According to representatives of the company, the final decision was made not to bring the Moskvich 5 model to the market.

Earlier in 2025, it was reported that the plant had produced several hundred Moskvich 5 crossovers and was considering the possibility of mass production of the model, but the launch was postponed until the tests were completed.

The Moskvich 5 is based on the Chinese JAC Sehol X6 crossover, has a length of 4505 mm and a wheelbase of 2660 mm. The cars produced are equipped with 136 and 174 hp turbo engines, work with a CVT and front-wheel drive.

In December last year, it was reported that Moskvich 5 cars, which had not been officially sold, appeared at a dealership in Nizhny Novgorod. It was noted that these crossovers were purchased as second-hand.
