Waking up frequently 5-15 minutes before the alarm goes off is often not a cause for concern, but a sign of well-established circadian rhythms. About this on February 7, "Gazeta.Ru" was told by a somnologist, Candidate of medical Sciences Sofia Cherkasova.

"This awakening is associated with the work of circadian rhythms— the internal biological clock. If a person lives in a stable sleep regime for a long time, the brain "remembers" the time of awakening and begins to gradually bring the body out of sleep in advance," Cherkasova explained.

However, regular early awakenings on weekends, when there is no external pressure, can be an alarming signal. According to Cherkasova, the cause may be chronic stress, overwork, hormonal disorders or somatic diseases, and sometimes depression.

The specialist recommends keeping a sleep diary, assessing the level of anxiety and, if necessary, taking laboratory tests.

Somnologist Mikhail Poluektov reported on January 28 that difficulties with morning rising in winter are most often associated with a lack of daylight. He noted that a stable sleep regime, sufficient rest time and artificial lighting help to facilitate waking up and conserve energy.
