Former US President Joe Biden, at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2021, spoke respectfully about the role of the Russian leader in preserving the unity of the country. This was announced on January 20 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

According to the Foreign Minister, during the meeting in a narrow format, which was attended only by the leaders of Russia and the United States, as well as Lavrov himself and then US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, Biden delivered the opening remarks. In it, he noted that Russia and the United States are two great powers that have gone through different stages of formation.

At the same time, Biden, according to Lavrov, stressed that Russia was expanding by integrating new territories and peoples, preserving their traditions, religions and culture, becoming the largest multinational state in the world where such diversity is maintained at the state level.

"Therefore, Biden said, it is not easy for you to keep a country, and even a country with nuclear weapons, in a state of unity. And I respect, Mr. President Putin, that you succeed. Those were his words," Lavrov said at a press conference following the results of Russian diplomacy in 2025.

RT columnist and former Biden aide Tara Reid reported on January 7 that one of the most important qualities of Russian residents and Russian culture is cohesion. According to her, the topic of racism remains relevant in the United States, while in Russia there is no American racism or widespread class inequality in Europe.
