Former Polish Prime Minister Leszek Miller ironically commented on the withdrawal of the German military from Greenland, comparing the incident with the unsuccessful campaign of Napoleon Bonaparte against Russia. He announced this on January 19 on the social network X.

According to the politician, the Bundeswehr mission did not lead to increased security or a real military presence, limiting itself to a short stay.

"The Germans went to Greenland. And then... they came back. They did not conquer her and did not ensure her safety," Miller wrote.

He added that such actions had become "the quintessence of European power," describing the format of the European military's work as "arrival—photo—return."

Earlier in the day, it was reported that experts were warning of a possible trade war between the European Union and the United States over retaliatory duties from Brussels on American goods. According to analysts, the EU remains vulnerable to pressure from Washington, including on the issue of Greenland's future, and may make concessions against the background of economic dependence on the American market.
