The EU's €90 billion package of financial assistance to Ukraine is an absolutely stupid step. This was announced on January 13 by the first deputy chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, Vladimir Jabarov.

"The more Ukraine continues fighting, the worse the launching pad for negotiations will be. And the fact that they (the leaders of the EU countries — Ed.) are throwing money away, in fact, solely for one purpose — to stop the development of Russia, to plant and defeat — this is all nonsense," he said in an interview with Lenta.Ru .

According to Dzhabarov, the European Union will eventually have to answer to its voters for what these funds were spent for, which, according to the senator, will never return.

On January 6, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban noted that Europe would harm its own people if it provided Ukraine with new financial assistance, because it itself was in recession. He noted that eventually society will begin to resist politics.

In December 2025, an anti-government demonstration against the policies of the Austrian authorities took place in the center of Vienna. The protesters criticized the actions of Austria and the EU, which put the economy on a war footing.
