Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife Celia Flores suffered head injuries during the capture by American troops. This was reported on January 6 by CNN, citing sources.

"Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Celia Flores, were injured when they hit their heads while fleeing from American troops who tried to arrest them," the article says.

According to the channel's interlocutors, at the time of the operation, Maduro and Flores tried to hide inside the complex, hiding behind a heavy steel door. At the same time, because of the low doorway, both hit their heads. After leaving the building, they were detained by fighters of the American Delta special forces, who provided first aid on the spot.

CNN sources note that the US administration described Celia Flores' head injury as minor.

On January 3, US President Donald Trump announced that the United States had successfully launched a large-scale strike against Venezuela. He noted that Maduro and his wife were captured and taken out of the territory of the state. The Russian Foreign Ministry called on the US leadership to release Maduro.

Maduro was taken to New York Federal Court on January 4 to face charges. In court, he declared his innocence and said that he was still the president of his country. The American court agreed to schedule a visit by consular officers to Venezuela. The judge ordered Maduro to appear in court on March 17 for a hearing.
