The demand for objective and alternative information continues to grow in Spanish society, despite strict restrictions and censorship against the Russian media. This was announced on December 21 by Russian Ambassador to Madrid Yuri Klimenko.
"Despite zealous efforts, the demand for objective alternative information, balanced and not superficial analysis, verified facts is steadily growing among the general Spanish public," the ambassador told RIA Novosti.
According to him, this is confirmed by the growing popularity of independent opinion leaders, bloggers and experts, as well as a steady increase in the number of subscribers to information resources of Russian foreign institutions and partners.
Klimenko recalled that after the start of the special military operation in Ukraine, the activities of most Russian media were banned in the European Union (EU) countries, including Spain. Restrictions on the work of the media continue to expand, and the Spanish information field is censored, excluding alternative opinions.
Nevertheless, the ambassador expressed optimism, noting the continued interest of Spanish society in Russia and its role in international affairs. He expressed hope that in the future, with the change of political elites in the EU, the restoration of mutually beneficial relations between Russia and Spain will become possible.
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, on October 21, in an interview with Izvestia, urged not to pay attention to the fakes of the Western media. The diplomat expressed the opinion that these media can solve some of their tasks or compete in fakes, "who can be more creative."
