Ovechkin took part in a brawl in the match with Anaheim
Alexander Ovechkin, the Russian forward and captain of the Washington Capitals, became involved in a fight with Frank Vatrano from the Anaheim Ducks in a National Hockey League (NHL) match.
According to Sport-Express, the incident occurred on December 5 at the beginning of the third period with the score 3-3, when Vatrano pushed Capitals defender Jacob Chikran, as a result of which he crashed into the board. Ovechkin and his teammate Dylan Strome immediately stood up for their partner.
A small skirmish quickly turned into a mass brawl, but the referees quickly separated the players. Vatrano received a small fine for blocking.
However, Washington could not win this match — the Anaheim Ducks won in overtime.
Dmitry Voronkov, a Russian hockey player and forward for the Columbus Blue Jackets, twice got into a fight during the match against the New Jersey Devils and knocked out Canadian defenseman Brenden Dillon. The meeting took place on December 2 and ended with a score of 5:3 in favor of the Russian team.
