Red caviar production increased 1.4 times in 2025
In Russia, the production of red caviar per person in January – September of this year amounted to 74.4 g, which is almost 1.4 times more than last year. This was reported on November 27 by RIA Novosti with reference to Rosstat data.
A total of 10.9 thousand tons of caviar were produced in the country, which is 3.1 thousand tons more than in the same period last year (7.8 thousand tons). The population of Russia at the beginning of the year remained at the level of 146.1 million people.
Thus, for the first nine months of this year, 74.4 grams of red caviar were produced for each Russian, which is significantly higher than the 53.7 grams produced during the same period a year earlier.
Despite this growth, production remains well below the level of 2023, when 144.4 g of caviar per person was consumed.
Earlier, on October 22, the head of Rosrybolovstvo Ilya Shestakov reported that in Russia red caviar and red fish may become cheaper by the New Year. At the same time, according to Shestakov, these products will be sufficient both for the domestic market and for export.
