German Chancellor Friedrich Merz's remarks about Brazil are probably due to his lack of political experience. This was announced on November 23 by Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.

During a press conference following the G20 summit in South Africa, the Brazilian leader recalled Merz's statement that the German delegation was happy to leave the Brazilian city of Belen do Para after the COP30 climate summit and return to Germany. Lula da Silva suggested that the German chancellor simply did not go out for a walk in Brazil and did not try local dishes.

"I think it's about political experience," Lula da Silva said. The broadcast was hosted by the South African television channel SABC News on its YouTube channel.

At the same time, the Brazilian president said that he himself would appreciate the local culture and cuisine if he visited Berlin.

On the same day, Lula da Silva asked not to whisper in the interpreter's ear during the final press conference of the G20 summit in Johannesburg. The incident occurred after a question from a European media journalist in English, when the translator began translating words too quietly for the Brazilian president.

The G20 summit is taking place in the South African capital of Johannesburg on November 22-23. At the opening ceremony, Ramaphosa dedicated his speech to inequality, inclusive growth, and the role of developing countries in shaping the global agenda. After the opening ceremony, the leaders' talks continued behind closed doors.
