- Nabiullina said that the Central Bank "went too far" in the fight against fraudsters.
The growing number of complaints about unjustified account blocking indicates that mistakes were made in the fight against fraud. This was announced on November 18 by the head of the Central Bank of Russia, Elvira Nabiullina, at the regulator's "Customer Focus" conference.
"What do we see? Fraud complaints have decreased significantly, and we hope that this will become a sustainable trend. However, at the same time, the number of complaints about unjustified account blocking has increased. This means that we may have overreached in the fight against fraud," Nabiullina said.
According to Nabiullina, banks did not always provide citizens with explanations for the reasons for blocking funds. She added that the situation has already been resolved, and the Central Bank hopes that the issue will be fully resolved.
Earlier, on November 12, Vadim Uvarov, director of the Information Security Department of the Bank of Russia, said that the Central Bank's experts decided to include transfers using the Fast Payment System (SBP) in the signs of fraud due to fraudsters. According to him, the current list of signs of fraudulent transactions consists of six points.
