Tusk predicted Ukraine's defeat in case of corruption in the country
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has warned that Ukraine will be defeated in the conflict with Russia if it fails to deal with corruption. This was announced on November 14 by the Onet portal.
"I warn everyone who has the right to vote on this issue: beware of corruption, <...> because you will lose the war if you tolerate it," Tusk said.
According to the Polish Prime Minister, corruption undermines the trust of Western partners and prevents Kiev from maintaining international support.
"It will become increasingly difficult to convince partners to cooperate with Ukraine if such scandals continue to arise," he stressed.
On the same day, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said that corruption could become the main obstacle on Ukraine's path to joining the European Union (EU). He added that if Kiev does not change its approach to solving this problem, it will not be able to achieve EU membership.
Prior to that, on November 12, political analyst Ivan Mezyuho, in an interview with Izvestia, noted that corruption scandals in Ukrainian government circles were causing a serious blow to the reputation of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and complicating Kiev's relations with European partners. The expert stressed that Brussels may demand explanations from the Ukrainian leader, but at the same time they will continue to financially support the country.
