Trump expressed a desire to meet with Kim Jong-un
US President Donald Trump would like to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. On October 27, he stated this on board the plane during a conversation with the press, which was broadcast on the White House YouTube channel.
"I would like to meet with him if he wants it too. We had a great relationship, I liked him, he liked me. If he wants to meet, then I will be in South Korea soon," Trump said.
He added that he may extend his trip to Asia to meet with Kim Jong-un.
Trump also noted that he expects to travel to China in early 2026.
"There is an agreement that I will go to China at the beginning of the year. President Xi [Jinping] may come to Washington <...> some time after that," said the head of the United States.
Earlier, on October 25, Trump announced his readiness for contacts and a meeting with Kim Jong-un during his Asian tour. On October 18, the media reported that officials from the Trump administration had privately discussed a meeting with the North Korean leader. At the same time, as noted, officials have not yet taken the serious steps necessary to organize such a visit.
