Trump announced the termination of trade negotiations with Canada
On October 23, US President Donald Trump announced the termination of all trade negotiations with Canada, accusing the country of spreading fake advertising against duties.
"Canada fraudulently used fake ads in which [former US President] Ronald Reagan spoke negatively about tariffs," he wrote on Truth Social.
Trump pointed out the importance of the duties for Washington's national security and economy and called Canada's similar action outrageous.
On October 20, Trump announced that Washington and Canberra intend to conclude an agreement on the supply of critical minerals and rare earths, as well as discuss trade and defense cooperation. It is noted that 10 minutes later, the American leader and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese signed the agreement.
