Tax increases for small businesses are not a verdict, but a signal for transformation. Igor Fineman, a financier and investment adviser licensed by the Central Bank of Russia, IR Director of PJSC APRI, told Izvestia on October 16 how to adapt to new conditions and use them to strengthen business.

"If you are self—employed, get ready for transformation. The era of "soft" tax conditions is ending. Most likely, a new model awaits us — a hybrid between the status of self-employed and the classic sole proprietor, where you will have to pay a little more, but in return you will receive social guarantees and the opportunity to officially hire assistants. It's not bad if you approach this with a cool head: the legalization of labor is an investment in business sustainability," the financier said.

Fineman recommended not trying to evade taxes, but integrating them into an overall financial strategy. It is important to take into account all expenses, create a cushion for "tax shocks" and optimize spending using legitimate methods — through AIS, insurance programs or contracts with contractors. According to him, small businesses survive not by making minimal payments, but by carefully planning for several years ahead.

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin announced on October 9 that self-employed citizens will be able to apply for paid sick leave starting next year. He stressed that the decision will remain with the citizens. If they accept it, they will be able to receive benefits in case of illness or injury.
