Over the next month, the investigative authorities will transfer to the prosecutor's office and then to the court the case of the accused who planned to commit an attempt on the editor-in-chief of Rossiya Segodnya and RT TV channel Margarita Simonyan. This was announced on Monday, October 13, by one of the participants in the trial.

"The investigation will transfer the case to the prosecutor's office for approval of the indictment, and then to the 2nd Western District Military Court for consideration on the merits," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

It is specified that the defendants in this process remain in custody — this period has been extended for them until November 7.

On July 15, 2023, the Federal Security Service (FSB) of the Russian Federation announced the prevention of an assassination attempt on Simonyan, as well as on journalist Ksenia Sobchak. It was clarified that this case was being prepared by order of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and those who decided on it followed the women, knowing all their addresses. Some of the attackers partially admitted their guilt on October 11, 2025.
