Military Order of Zhukov Academy of the National Guard of Russia celebrated its 81st anniversary

The Military Academy of the National Guard of the Russian Federation celebrated the 81st anniversary of its foundation on October 12. In honor of this event, a solemn meeting was held at the academy, located in St. Petersburg, with the participation of distinguished guests, including Igor Potapenko, Vice-Governor of St. Petersburg, Alexander Gabatov, Chairman of the Public Chamber of the Leningrad Region, Nina Maslo, director of the Pobedonostets Autonomous Non-Profit Organization, veterans, representatives of the clergy, as well as heads of regional educational organizations. Congratulations on this occasion were also sent by Viktor Zolotov, Director of the Federal Service of the National Guard Troops of the Russian Federation.

"Fellow officers, warrant officers and sergeants, cadets and soldiers! Dear members of the faculty! Dear veterans! I congratulate you on the 81st anniversary of the formation of the Military Order of Zhukov of the Academy of the National Guard of the Russian Federation! <...> I have no doubt that the academy will maintain the pace of its development, consistently confirming its high status during the next graduates of impeccably trained young officers," his message of congratulations said.

Also at the event, the head of the academy, founded on October 12, 1944, Major General Andrei Kiyko, congratulated the cadets, faculty and veterans of the educational institution. He thanked them for their loyalty to their profession and military duty, and wished them success in their studies and service. The participants of the event observed a minute of silence in memory of the fallen comrades, and then laid a wreath and flowers at the monument to the "Feat of Graduates".

After that, an award ceremony was held, during which the distinguished Russian guardsmen were awarded shoulder straps, departmental awards and certificates of honor in a festive atmosphere. Nina Maslo presented the academy with a certificate for obtaining modern equipment that will help improve the quality of the cadets' educational process.

The Academy, originally established as the Central School of the NKVD of the USSR, graduated its first students in 1945. Since then, she has trained more than 35,000 officers, of whom 14 have become Heroes of the Soviet Union and the Russian Federation.

In 2024, the academy was transformed into the Military Academy of the National Guard of the Russian Federation and is now the main military university of the Russian Guard, which trains officers for tactical and military-political work. The training at the academy is conducted in three faculties and lasts for five years.

The Baltic Fleet, which completed its first victorious battle under the command of Russian Emperor Peter I on May 18, 1703, celebrated its 322nd anniversary on May 18, 2025. Currently, it includes surface and underwater forces, naval aviation and coastal troops, as well as special and logistical support units.
